Task templates now recommend items using remaining required completions first, with due-time urgency as the secondary tie-breaker.

Template Recommendations That Prioritize Remaining Work

What’s New

  • Remaining required completions drive recommendations. The task with more unfinished required repetitions is now prioritized first.
  • Urgency breaks ties. When remaining counts match, we favor the item with the earlier due time.
  • Visual cues stay consistent. The recommendation highlight follows this ranking model across template cards and sidebars.

Why It Matters

When deciding what to do next, unfinished load matters more than arbitrary weighting. This update reduces decision friction and helps users clear the largest remaining execution burden first.

Examples From the Field

  • Shipping a product update. A template with “Migration checklist (4 remaining)” is now recommended before “Release notes (1 remaining)”.
  • Studying for finals. “Practice proofs (3 remaining)” surfaces ahead of “Lecture summary (1 remaining)”.
  • Training for a season. “Conditioning sprints (3 remaining)” is prioritized over lower-remaining maintenance items.

What’s Next

We are testing additional context signals, including preferred time windows and calendar load, while keeping remaining-count priority intact.
